FabLab, the association for the promotion of digital fabrication, was founded on 1 March 2013 in Zagreb — the first of its kind in this part of Europe. Its co-founders are Hrvoje Petrović, Saša Relić and Roberto Vdović. We are part of the global FabLab network, born from an idea developed at MIT: that the tools of making belong to everyone.
To make digital fabrication accessible to all, empowering individuals and communities to develop sustainable, inclusive and meaningful solutions that improve quality of life.
We imagine a future in which innovation supports the wellbeing of people and the planet — aligned with the values of the New European Bauhaus (sustainability, inclusion, beauty) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Digital fabrication technologies can deepen inequalities, but they can also significantly reduce them. Our work is to make the latter prevail.
For all ages, from the youngest to those expanding their knowledge later in life — in communities, schools and at public events.
Technology in the service of those it can genuinely help — from the needs of people with disabilities to solutions for specific individual needs.
Testing ideas and taking them to prototype or product, with an exchange of experience among members of different professions.
We take an active part in shaping national and EU policies, because access to technology is a social question, not just a technical one.
