The exhibition “Transformations – Biomaterials and Digital Fabrication”

The exhibition “Transformations – Biomaterials and Digital Fabrication” is now open at the Pučko otvoreno učilište Zagreb, showcasing works by students of the Textile Technology Faculty of the University of Zagreb, created through multi-seasonal work and research.

New circumstances in the design world, driven by development and ecological demands, encourage the exploration of new possibilities, especially in the field of materials. Under the mentorship of Prof. Art. Helena Schultheis Edgeler and with the support of the FabLab association, students from the Textile Technology Faculty participated in the “Digital Fashion and Textile Workshops”, under the group name Biomaterials and Digital Fabrication during 2023, 2024, and 2025.

This exhibition presents a selection of works created in these workshops, where students explored biomaterials, experimental production processes, and digital fabrication-combining textiles, material research, and contemporary digital technologies like 3D modeling and laser cutting.

FabLab Zagreb proudly participated as a partner, supporting students in applying digital tools and innovative technologies. Through this collaboration, students had the opportunity to transform their ideas into tangible works that demonstrate how traditional materials can be combined with modern technologies in design solutions.

The exhibition is open until March 26, 2026 and is a great opportunity to get inspired by the works of young designers and explore the future of sustainable design!
