Completed Erasmus+ Short-term Learning Mobility Program at Fablab Zagreb
After five intensive and creative weeks, the Erasmus+ Short-term Learning Mobility program has successfully concluded, during which we hosted two students from Italy, Alessia and Sara Postinghel from Polo Giuseppe Veronesi School (Rovereto) at Fablab Zagreb.
Throughout the exchange, the students actively participated in the work at Fablab, focusing on:
• 3D modeling and working with advanced software
• 3D printing and model post-production
• Woodworking and using the Shaper tool
• Understanding design processes – from idea to realization
• Working in a safe and professional makerspace environment
A special emphasis was placed on practical work – a combination of computer-based tasks and hands-on experience, which allowed for a deeper understanding of how machines and tools function in real projects.
What do the students say about their experience at Fablab Zagreb?
In their final reflections, they highlighted several key points:
• They described working at Fablab as very creative, interactive, and educational.
• They especially appreciated the calm, safe, and collaborative work environment without pressure.
• They noted the professional yet motivating atmosphere that encouraged teamwork and communication.
• They emphasized how valuable the practical learning was – for example, manually shaping wood before working on the machine to better understand the process.
• The freedom to work with 3D printers and new software gave them space for creativity and the development of new skills.
• The exchange gave them a greater sense of independence, professional growth, and personal development.
In addition to the professional aspects, they also highlighted how beautiful and safe Zagreb was as a place to live and how the new experiences and connections enriched their stay.
This program once again confirms how important international mobility is, not only for the development of technical competencies but also for personal growth, intercultural understanding, and the creation of lasting professional connections.
Thank you to Alessia and Sara for their energy, creativity, and contribution to our makerspace environment.
We look forward to future Erasmus+ collaborations!

In conclusion, the completion of the Erasmus+ Short-term Learning Mobility program at Fablab Zagreb demonstrates the value of such mobility programs for the development of young professionals in the field of digital manufacturing and innovation. During the five weeks of the exchange, knowledge, practice, and international cooperation combined, creating an experience that goes beyond traditional education.
Young people develop both professional and personal competencies and gain experience working in an interdisciplinary environment, while Fablab Zagreb remains dedicated to creating an open and stimulating environment where young talents can learn, create, and grow through European cooperation.
