From California to Zagreb: Halie’s Visit to FabLab Zagreb
Sometimes the most interesting stories begin with a simple web search. 🙂
This time, FabLab Zagreb welcomed Halie, a mechanical engineering graduate student at Stanford University in California. Currently taking a break from her master’s studies, she is spending time traveling and visiting family in Croatia, a country she is connected to through her Croatian heritage.
While staying on the island of Brač, Halie wanted to explore Croatia’s maker community. She searched online for makerspaces and discovered FabLab Zagreb. Interested in technology, engineering, and innovation, she decided to make the trip to Zagreb to visit both FabLab and the Technical Museum.
Originally from Sacramento, California, Halie is also an active member of the Austin Robotics Group, where she contributes to projects focused on robotics and emerging technologies. As a mechanical engineer pursuing her master’s degree, she is particularly interested in prototyping, hands-on engineering, and interdisciplinary projects that bring together different technical fields.
During her visit, we had the opportunity to discuss maker culture, engineering education, robotics, and the many ways FabLabs support students, researchers, and innovators in turning ideas into reality. We always enjoy meeting people who share a passion for learning, creating, and exploring new technologies.
It is especially rewarding when visitors from around the world find their way to FabLab Zagreb, and even more so when they have family and cultural ties to Croatia.
Thank you, Halie, for your visit and the inspiring conversation. We wish you great success in your studies and future engineering projects, and we hope that Zagreb and FabLab Zagreb will remain a memorable part of your journey. https://foldingengineer.com https://www.youtube.com/@FoldingEngineer
