18.4.2024. Čavle

Thematic Systemic Support for the “STEM as a Driver of Development” area was organized as part of the Multidisciplinary Day for Children’s Safety 2024, held on April 18th at the Čavle Primary School. This event featured a series of associations and activities that aligned with the long-term goals of the school: promoting positive attitudes among students toward ecology and healthy living habits, as well as the STEM field as a crucial factor in improving quality of life. Many activities were made possible only thanks to the selfless engagement of numerous guests who, in their roles as lecturers, workshop leaders, and moderators, provided invaluable experiences to our students, expanded their existing knowledge, and allowed them to encounter something new, interesting, and vitally important for the future.

The topics presented in the workshops ranged from internet safety to mathematical workshops, workshops on biology, physics, and astronomy, with a demonstration through a mobile planetarium, as well as artificial intelligence, which was discussed through interactions with robots of various sizes, including a robot dog, and more.

In addition to the FabLab association, the Institute for Entrepreneurial Education and Innovation, the Professor Baltazar association, Virtualci, and the Institute for the Popularization of Science, institutions and schools such as the Maritime School of Bakar, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Rijeka, the Department of Psychology, and the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka participated. The event also saw the involvement of the Civil Protection Department of Rijeka, the Prevention and Preparedness Service, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Police Department, the Prevention Department, the Čavle Volunteer Fire Department, and the Rijeka City Red Cross Society. Through their presentations and educational activities, they contributed to the safety of children.
