Leonardo da Vinci

The official opening of the Da Vinci Laboratory took place at the Hotel and Tourism School in Zagreb, accompanied by a scientific-popularisation event. The aim of this project is to promote STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math) through various workshops. The project is related to the great thinker and innovator Leonardo da Vinci, who passed away on May 2nd, 1519, marking the 505th anniversary of his death with this event.

The workshops were intended for the students of the Hotel and Tourism School, as well as the users of the Dubrava Center for Education and Upbringing, the Center for Education and Upbringing Centar, students with disabilities from Grigor Vitez Primary School, and students from Davorin Trstenjak Primary School who visited the event that day.

The project involved various associations from the STEM field, including FabLab, Virtualci, the Institute for Entrepreneurial Education and Innovation, the Institute for the Popularization of Science, the Judo Federation through the “Science through Sport” project, and others.

In the school’s yard, the mobile planetarium and equipment for the Judo Federation workshops attracted great interest among students.

On the ground floor, in the foyer, a room dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci was set up, where students learned about his helicopter, catapult, tank, and other inventions.

On the ground floor classroom, digital robotics workshops were held with Ozobot robots, SPHERO balls, VR glasses, robot dogs, and various other content related to artificial intelligence.

On the first floor, creative and art workshops were conducted with 3D pens and 3D printers.

On the third floor, visitors had the opportunity to visit the school museum and participate in the anatomy workshop, while on the fourth floor, a mathematics workshop and a school pub quiz were held.
