From Idea to Laser: Kelson’s Visit to FabLab Zagreb

Sometimes the best encounters happen completely by chance. 🙂

Kelson recently stopped by FabLab Zagreb. A software engineer and application developer specializing in game development, he came to Croatia on a digital nomad visa. Over the years, he has traveled extensively around the world. He first visited Croatia back in 2021 and enjoyed it so much that he decided to return and spend more time here.

Originally from Seattle in the northwestern United States, Kelson decided to use his time in Zagreb to expand his technical knowledge and explore areas beyond software development. While searching online for information about laser cutting, he discovered FabLab Zagreb and decided to pay us a visit.

He brought along a personal project that he had designed primarily as a learning opportunity. His goal was to gain a better understanding of the laser-cutting process, learn about the machine’s capabilities, explore file preparation, and see how a digital design can be transformed into a physical product.

During his visit, he learned the fundamentals of working with a laser cutter, asked plenty of questions, and explored how digital fabrication technologies can complement his existing skill set. This kind of curiosity is exactly what we love to see at FabLab—people from different backgrounds and professions coming together to learn, experiment, and turn ideas into reality.

We’re glad Kelson chose to stop by during his journey, and we look forward to seeing what projects he develops in the future.

If you’d like to learn more about laser cutting, digital fabrication, or bring your own ideas to life, the doors of FabLab Zagreb are always open to new makers, innovators, and technology enthusiasts.
