Members of the VULCA Community from Slovenia, France and Brazil Visit FabLab Croatia
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming three inspiring members of the international VULCA community – Tajda from Slovenia, Selena from France, and Tauan from Brazil.
Tajda Novšak is a Slovenian sculptor, set designer, and mentor at Center Rog in Ljubljana. Through her work, she combines art, metalworking, and education, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and experimentation with different materials through workshops and artistic projects. She is particularly dedicated to metal craftsmanship, scenography, and the creation of interactive art installations.
Selena Pere is a French designer, maker, and educator working in the field of digital fabrication. As an active member of the FabLab community, she develops projects that connect design, technology, and education while promoting creativity, collaboration, and access to new technologies for people of all generations through workshops and hands-on learning experiences.
Tauan Bernardo is a Brazilian maker, designer, and educator, as well as the Head of the FabLab at Center Rog in Ljubljana. He works in the fields of digital fabrication, open technologies, and the development of maker communities, promoting collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing through his work. He is also an active member of the international VULCA community.
Their visit was much more than an introduction to our work at FabLab. It was an opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences, and visions of how to build open communities that foster creativity, collaboration, and positive social change.
In addition to our space, we introduced our guests to some of the locations where FabLab has been developing and supporting communities across Croatia over the past years. We visited the former Sljeme factory in Sesvete, a place with great potential for new initiatives and community activities, as well as the Center in Grobnik, where various programs create new opportunities for learning, making, and connecting.
The entire day was filled with inspiring conversations, shared experiences, and memorable moments. We also organized a small excursion for our guests, enjoying together the beautiful sea views and the unique atmosphere of the Croatian coast.
These encounters remind us that the strongest communities are built through openness, cooperation, and friendships that transcend borders. We look forward to many more opportunities to create, learn, and grow together.

For our next gathering, we have saved a few more special places to explore, including the former building of the “Naša djeca” Association on the island of Prvić, as well as other locations where FabLab is active and, together with its partners and local communities, continues to develop new ideas and initiatives.
We are especially pleased that Tajda, Selena, and Tauan are members of the VULCA community – an international network that brings together individuals, makerspaces, and organizations dedicated to collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of open and inclusive communities. We are proud that FabLab is also part of this story and actively contributes to VULCA’s further development through its representatives on the Board of Directors.
Encounters like these remind us that communities do not emerge on their own – they are built through openness, the sharing of knowledge, and people who believe that by working together we can create a better environment for everyone. 🙂
The day was filled with inspiring conversations, new ideas, and visits to the places where FabLab creates and nurtures communities. We organized an excursion for our guests and ended the day together enjoying the beautiful sea view and the unique atmosphere of the Croatian coast.
